We are all human.

I have been away from Srilanka for almost 20 years. I have learned a lot from being abroad. I think Sri Lankans have lot to learn such as dealing with minorities. I am brought up in a fisher village near by Negombo. Next to my village there is a Muslim village called Poruthota.

You might say I am used to minorities and there is no friction between the Muslims and the Sinhalese catholic people like my self. There are many similarities between the Muslims and the Sinhalese Catholic people. We are all human and that is the main reason there is much understanding between the Muslims and the Sinhales Catholic people. I think almost every ethnic friction begins with seeing the differences. I think seeing this is good, but because of the difference there should be no friction. I think the western world is known to deal with such of matters better. They still do not have a long history of minorities living in their county. I think the western world see the advantage of treating minority’s right. I think we Sri Lankans have long away to go when it comes to dealing with minorities.

Now that there is a new leader is chosen for the LTTE. I am not convinced that the war is over. I think the believes the Sri Lankans have of the government is totally wrong. I think supporting a government which spend billion dollars to win the war have lead to less results. I think people are naive in this type of situation thinking that Tamil Tigers would not rise again. I think to end the problem with the LTTE does not need a any military action. It can solve with good old fashioned politics. I can not say how long it will take before the friction sparks up. I think as a Sri Lankan that the solution for the ethnic problem is not separation in a direct manner. I think there a more sustainable solution. I am not a fan of splitting our country into two separate countries.

I think it is time to give a piece of land to the Tamil people. This can be done by winning land through 'Poldering'. This is my solution for the ethnic problem. I think LTTE is politically well developed to run a country of their own. I think they can get aid to rebuild part of former Sri Lanka soon as a welfare state. I think it will prosper like Singapore. I think it is time to realize that we are all descents of Indian people and we got to get through this without making a bloody mess of things.
